People familiar with my work have been asking about last-minute print sales because of the holidays. Here’s a few examples I like and details for yourself or your loved ones. Most prints on this blog are available but time is running out so contact me by midnight Sunday, December 20th at the latest for express delivery.

Other sizes and prints are available, and not all are the priced the same so feel free to ask. All transactions must be handled via Paypal unless you live in NYC and are available for delivery. Thanks for everyone’s support and Happy Holidays!

Korea: Pooroni Rhee.

Filed under: Misc, Photo — Jason Lewis at 1:53 am on Friday, November 13, 2009

For our first rendezvous Pooroni took me to a fun “school foods” dinner and afterwards I took a few shots of her in someone’s driveway. Pooroni is a freelance graphic designer and a illustrator based in Seoul, Korea. She is currently a researcher in the doctoral program at Seoul National University. Pooroni designs, draws, studies and teaches, smiles big and is adept at tackling both minor and major inclines.

Her favorite place is Kinkos.

Big thanks to Rich Lim and Keeyoon Kang for playing catch! Big thanks to Pooroni for being so fun!

I recently had the great honor to spend a few minutes with JK before 2 major shows, first in Incheon (R16) and another in Seoul (MTV/Nylon Mag). JK is a multi-talented Korean Hip Hop artist, and released his first album as early as 1999. 8 albums later, Feel gHood MuzikĀ : the 8th Wonder is released and JK is rocking stages throughout Asia. He is easily the most influential Hip Hop artist in Korea and also a really down-to-earth guy.

I’m really, really, really excited to be back in Korea with friends and family, I’ll be shooting R16 and continuing various projects I began last summer. Only one of which I’ve ever shared so here’s a real start.

R16 is a massive BBoy competition pitting the best teams in the world against each other. Think of it as America’s Best Dance Crew on steroids. And with taste. Part of my commission included team shots and portraits – 15 countries in attendance, 16 teams of 10 stellar athletes and 2 afternoons to do it. Here’s a sample from ‘08. Please click here for an alternate post.

R.I.P. Emil Goh, 1966-2009.

Filed under: Misc, Photo — Jason Lewis at 5:50 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2009

I received an email from family in S. Korea announcing that we lost our good friend Emil Goh. He died of a heart attack in Seoul where he was living.

The news of Emil passing suddenly has hit me pretty hard as we became good friends in my month in Seoul last summer. Beyond being a good friend, he spent many days introducing me to the amazing art scene in Seoul as well as people like the Chillzine girls, 360 Sounds and Daily Projects amongst others. He brought me to art openings and introduced me to fantastic dinner spots throughout the city. He was easily one of the most selfless AND talented people I’ve been fortunate to meet and I feel blessed to have called him a friend.

Here’s Emil, a few of his designs and some of the people we encountered together.
